Lyrics by George Herbert, 1663
Melody “The Call” By Ralph Vaughn Williams
This lyric is written poetically, wherein the first line of each stanza presents 3 themes/names of Christ, upon which each subsequent line in the stanzas extrapolate.
I was inspired by the Blackfriars rendition, thus re-creating it in a monk-like chant version.
I use a TC Helicon Voicelive3Extreme and BOSS505 Looper for the effects.
Come, my Way, my Truth, my Life:
such a way as gives us breath;
such a truth as ends all strife;
such a life as killeth death.
Come, my Light, my Feast, my Strength:
such a light as shows a feast;
such a feast as mends in length;
such a strength as makes a guest.
Come, my Joy, my Love, my Heart:
such a joy as none can move:
such a love as none can part;
such a heart as joys in love.
