My Cup Runneth Over

Pretty sure I wrote this on my parent's porch during a Michigan summer...or I just imagine the breeze passing through that peaceful space while singing this song. Still, a Celtic lilt in any a sweet spot cannot express all the joy felt in God's presence.

GOD'S PRESENCE

Through the story arch of the Bible, His presence only becomes more near to us: In the Old Testament, tale after tale we have examples of how God remained near to His people - He even established a covenant with Abraham that He would continue to be. Then in the gospels, God takes on flesh and walks among us, coming even further into our midst... And then after Christ's ascension, The Holy Spirit comes and dwells within us! There could be no presence more intimate than that. May we fully grasp the power, honor, and profound love of God this glorious and mysterious truth reveals to us.

PRESENCE

In the morning, in the night

In the East and West

I’m forever within your sight

My wandering mind’s at rest

Chorus:

You fill me with your presence

You’re always by my side

My cup it runneth over

My soul is satisfied

When I’m young, when I’m old

When I’m in between

Everyday my hand you hold

And Lead to pastures green

chorus

When the fog comes rolling in

When the foe appears to win

You’re the light that never dims I am never alone…

When I’m held in high esteem

When golden gifts appear

All of it is poverty

Without your spirit here

chorus
